Illinois Broadcasters Association Scholarship

The Illinois Broadcasters Association Scholarship supports full-time junior or senior students majoring in Communication Studies or Journalism who plan to pursue a career in broadcasting at Eastern Illinois University. The scholarship recognizes students who demonstrate talent, commitment, excellence, and professional ambition in broadcasting, with a required minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. Recipients must be accepted and in good standing at EIU. The scholarship selection committee identifies the top student with rising senior standing in the eligible majors. When multiple outstanding students are considered qualified, preference is given to those with demonstrated financial need as determined by the Office of Financial Aid and/or work experience in broadcasting. The award is announced in the spring and paid the following fall semester. This scholarship is renewable, allowing recipients to apply and receive the award again in subsequent years provided they continue to meet all eligibility criteria. The award is available to all students who meet the stated requirements regardless of age, race, or sex, emphasizing the program's commitment to equal opportunity.
