About this opportunity

The programme aims at fostering strong, internationally oriented higher education systems in the Palestinian Territories (West Bank) with the capacity to contribute to sustainable development. Scholarships are granted for development-related Master studies for individuals who plan to pursue a career in teaching and/or research at a higher education institution in the Palestinian Territories. By training future academic and professional leaders, the programme contributes to qualified professionals' involvement in the solution of development-related problems, graduates strengthening education and research, and structural strengthening and regional networking of partner institutions and partner universities. The In-Country Scholarship Programme supports full-time studies in subject areas with strong relevance to national development at five selected Palestinian universities in the West Bank including Al-Quds University, Al-Quds Open University, Arab American University Palestine, Palestine Polytechnic University, and An-Najah National University. The programme is funded by the German Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and aims at university staff in the first line, without neglecting the public sector demand of academically trained personnel.

Review process

After formal evaluation by DAAD regarding completeness and correctness of applications, applications are forwarded to host institutions. The host institution participates in selection interviews and has the right of veto. DAAD reserves the right of final selection.
