In-Country/In Region Scholarships Programme at AIT

The In-Country/In-Region Scholarships Programme at the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) aims at fostering strong, internationally oriented higher education systems in Southeast Asia with the capacity to contribute to sustainable development. The programme grants scholarships for development-related Master studies for individuals who plan to pursue a career in teaching and/or research at a higher education institution in Southeast Asia. The programme supports studies in subject areas with strong relevance to national development, specifically in Gender and Development Studies (GDS) and Natural Resources Management (NRM) Master's programmes. Female applicants and candidates from less privileged regions or groups are especially encouraged to participate. The scholarship includes a monthly stipend, travel allowance (for In-Region scholarships only), printing allowance, study and research allowance, and tuition fees. Scholarships are awarded for the duration of the standard period of study for the chosen programme, up to a maximum of 24 months. Applicants must complete a two-step application process: first submitting a complete application through the DAAD Portal, and simultaneously applying for admission directly at AIT following the institution's prescribed procedures and deadlines.
