About This Opportunity

The repatriation grant is a financial grant offered by the Swedish Migration Agency that helps individuals who have received a residence permit in Sweden on grounds of protection needs and want to move back to their home country or another country where they have the right to live. To be eligible, applicants must be resident in Sweden and have received a residence permit on grounds of protection needs before 24 September 2024. Family members of eligible applicants can also receive the grant if they meet certain requirements. The grant amounts depend on household composition. Single adults can receive up to 350,000 SEK, while children can receive up to 25,000 SEK each. Spouses or cohabiting partners can receive a maximum of 500,000 SEK together, and households with adults and children can receive a maximum of 600,000 SEK total. The increased grant amounts became available starting January 1, 2026. This program is designed to provide financial assistance for repatriation and relocation expenses for those who wish to voluntarily return to their home country or another country where they have residency rights. The Swedish Migration Agency administers the application process and determines eligibility based on Swedish laws and international conventions.
