About this opportunity
The Indigenous Careers Award is awarded to students who are First Nation, Inuit, or Métis people of Canada in accordance with the Constitution Act, 1982, Part 2, Section 35(2) and who are Alberta residents with satisfactory academic standing enrolled in any year of an undergraduate degree at the University of Alberta. Selection is based on academic standing, with additional criteria potentially considered depending on the applicant pool.
This award is funded by the Government of Alberta and is designed to encourage Indigenous learners who are Alberta Residents to pursue and complete post-secondary studies in degree programs leading to high-demand career outcomes in Alberta. Students enrolled in a minimum of 24 credits from September to April, students registered with an approved accommodation through Accessibility Resources, or students in the Transition Year Program are encouraged to apply.
This competition is competitive and applicants will be assessed based on minimum eligibility criteria with a preference given to students in the upper years of their program. To receive funds, students must be enrolled full time in the upcoming academic year. Applicants must be able to provide documentation of First Nations, Métis, or Inuit identity to be eligible for this award.
