About this opportunity
The Indigenous Commonwealth Accommodation Scholarship is offered by the Australian National University to assist Indigenous students with relocation and accommodation costs when moving from rural or regional areas or for those who are required to move out of the family home to study at the University. The scholarship provides financial support to help Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students overcome geographical and financial barriers to accessing higher education at ANU.
The scholarship is designed for students who demonstrate low socio-economic status and need to relocate to attend university. It supports students across all fields of study and degree levels, including undergraduate, postgraduate coursework, and postgraduate research programs. The award recognizes the additional challenges faced by Indigenous students from regional and rural areas who must leave their communities to pursue higher education.
Eligible students must identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander, be domestic students, and demonstrate financial need through either receipt of Commonwealth income support payments or through financial assessment. The scholarship aims to reduce financial hardship and support Indigenous student retention and success at ANU by covering accommodation and relocation expenses that might otherwise be barriers to study.
