About this opportunity
The Indigenous Commonwealth Education Costs Scholarship is offered annually by the Australian National University to assist Indigenous students with education costs related to studying at the University. The scholarship provides financial support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students who demonstrate low socio-economic status, either through receiving means-tested Commonwealth income support payments or through assessment by the scholarship provider. The award is available to both commencing and continuing students enrolled in undergraduate, postgraduate coursework, or postgraduate research degrees. The scholarship provides a stipend of $5,000 per annum for up to 3 years, with payments made per semester. With approximately 5 awards offered each year, the scholarship aims to increase access to higher education for Indigenous students facing financial hardship. Continuation of the scholarship is based on academic performance, and recipients cannot concurrently hold the Indigenous Commonwealth Accommodation Scholarship.
