About this opportunity
The Indigenous Law Student Program offers the successful candidate the unique opportunity to gain an insight into the Australian legal system. The Program provides an innovative and solid foundation to support Indigenous students who are pursuing a career at the Bar, with the key objective of increasing the number of Indigenous barristers at the Queensland Bar. The Program constitutes three weeks, within which the selected student will be exposed to different areas of law. The successful applicant will spend one week with a barrister, one week at the Federal Court of Australia and one week at the Supreme and/or District Court of Queensland. During this time the student may attend client conferences and Court as the opportunity arises, undertake research tasks along with the opportunity to observe cases on which his or her Honour is sitting. This is not a paid position, however, the successful applicant will be provided reimbursement or upfront payment of expenses incurred in participating in the program, including day-to-day expenses such as food or travel.
