About this opportunity
The Indigenous Student Success Program is a scholarship offered by Deakin University to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students in their higher education journey. Education is recognized as a key factor in improving economic and social well-being, and the Commonwealth understands the significant benefit of an education environment that acknowledges, respects and embraces Indigenous peoples' cultures, languages, traditions and spirituality. This scholarship provides financial support to help students focus on achieving academic success in their studies. The scholarship is designed to assist students who are experiencing financial and/or personal hardship, with preference given to students from remote and very remote areas as defined by the Australian Statistical Geography Standard – Remoteness Area (ASGS-RA). Applications are assessed based on involvement in local Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander communities, location and disadvantage factors, responsibility for others, and disability status.
