About This Opportunity

The Institute of Education Postgraduate Pathway Scholarship at Massey University supports postgraduate research students undertaking strategically valuable research as part of a master's degree in education. The scholarship provides $5,000 towards tuition fees for one year's duration, with typically three awards available. The Institute of Education staff are actively engaged in diverse research on significant educational questions, with a strong focus on providing high quality research and professional training pathway experiences for postgraduate students. The Institute provides an authentic training pathway by including recipients as members of research teams and supporting recipients to make practical contributions to scholarly and professional knowledge. Three variants of the scholarship are available: Kia Mārama Postgraduate Pathway Scholarship (for applicants who identify as Māori or are undertaking research in Māori education), Growing Pearls of Wisdom Postgraduate Pathway Scholarship (for applicants who identify as Pacific or are undertaking research in Pacific education), and the general Postgraduate Pathway Scholarship. Applicants must have completed the taught component of their postgraduate qualification in education and be intending to enrol in the research course of a master's degree within the Institute of Education. Research topics must have strategic alignment with the Institute of Education and align with staff researchers or current research projects. Selection is based on the potential impact of the research, how it contributes to career goals, and its relevance to Massey University's goal of being a Tiriti o Waitangi-led tertiary institution.
