About this opportunity

Instrumentfondet is a state-funded support scheme for music bands in Norway to purchase and maintain acoustic instruments. The fund is available to bands, ensembles, and orchestras where at least three-quarters of members are 26 years or younger. The fund has been available since 2006 and was established in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture. It provides important financial support for effective operations in music bands, ensuring that children and youth have access to quality instruments, which is considered essential for keeping them engaged in musical activities. Applications are reviewed annually with a deadline of April 1st each year, and decisions are typically communicated before summer vacation. The fund supports purchases of brass instruments, woodwind instruments, and acoustic percussion instruments, as well as cases and protection for large percussion instruments. From 2026, the scheme has been expanded to include major maintenance and repair of instruments to ensure sustainability.
