About this opportunity
The International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship (formerly known as the Confucius Institute Scholarship) is offered by the Center for Language Education and Cooperation (CLEC) to satisfy the growing demand of the international community for Chinese language teachers and facilitate Chinese language education in other countries. The scholarship enables applicants to study International Chinese Education and related programmes in China. The Confucius Institute for Business London (CIBL) at LSE helps current students with their applications for these scholarships.
The scholarship offers various programs including doctoral, master's, and bachelor's degrees in Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages (TCSOL), as well as one-academic-year, one-semester, and four-week study programs. These programs cover areas such as TCSOL, Chinese Language and Literature, Chinese History, Chinese Philosophy, Traditional Chinese Medicine, and Taiji Culture. Recommending institutions such as Confucius Institutes may recommend outstanding students and currently-employed Chinese language teachers for study at Chinese universities and colleges.
Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens in good physical and mental condition with good academic performance and conduct, committed to Chinese language education and related work. Age requirements vary by program type, with general applicants between 16-35 years old, teachers up to 45 years old, and undergraduate applicants up to 25 years old. Each program has specific HSK and HSKK test score requirements depending on the level of study and subject area.
