International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship

The International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship is established by the Center for Language Education and Cooperation (CLEC) to meet the growing international demand for Chinese language teachers, facilitate Chinese language education around the world, and support the professional development of Chinese language teachers. The scholarship is available for eligible Chinese language teachers and students outside of China who are recommended by Confucius Institutes, independent Confucius Classrooms, selected HSK test centers, foreign educational institutions, Chinese language teacher training programs/Chinese departments at foreign universities, professional associations for Chinese language teaching, and Chinese embassies (consulates) abroad. Xiamen University is among the universities that recruit international students under this scholarship scheme. The scholarship offers multiple program types including Master's Degree in International Chinese Language Education (up to 2 years), Bachelor's Degree in International Chinese Language Education (up to 4 years), One-Academic-Year Study (11 months), One-Semester Study (5 months), Four-Week Study programs, and Online Programs. Priority is given to in-service Chinese language teachers who provide proof of employment and recommendation letters from their employers, as well as Chinese Bridge competition winners. The scholarship covers tuition, accommodation, living allowance, and comprehensive medical insurance according to established standards. Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens, friendly to China, have no criminal record, be in good physical and mental health, and be interested in Chinese language education. Different programs have specific HSK (Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi) and HSKK (HSK Speaking Test) score requirements. The scholarship aims to support the professional development of Chinese language educators globally and strengthen international Chinese language education.
