About This Opportunity

This postdoctoral fellowship is offered by the Swedish Research Council (Vetenskapsrådet) to provide recently graduated researchers with a doctorate from a Swedish university the opportunity to expand their network and competence by working abroad under secure employment conditions. The grant aims to reward the quality and renewal of Swedish research. The fellowship supports 18-36 months of postdoctoral research at an international host institution, with the postdoc remaining employed by a Swedish institution throughout the fellowship period. The grant provides a fixed amount of 1,300,000 SEK per year to cover salary, housing, cost-of-living allowances, and research expenses up to 150,000 SEK per year. An additional 50,000 SEK per year can be requested for accompanying family members. The program requires at least two-thirds of the grant period to be spent at the host institution abroad, though this can be divided into multiple shorter periods. Applications must be submitted in English (except for the popular science description in Swedish) and will be evaluated by a review panel of Swedish and international researchers based on scientific quality, innovation, applicant competence, feasibility, and the suitability of the internationalization and research environment.
