About This Opportunity

The Swedish Research Council (Vetenskapsrådet) offers the International Postdoc grant to provide recently graduated researchers with doctoral degrees from Swedish universities the opportunity to expand their network and competence by working abroad under secure employment conditions. The grant aims to reward the quality and renewal of Swedish research. This funding opportunity supports postdoctoral researchers within natural and engineering sciences to conduct research at foreign host institutions for 18-36 months, starting in January 2026. The grant provides a standardized amount of 1,300,000 SEK per year to cover salary, housing during the stay abroad, and cost-of-living allowances according to URA rules or equivalent costs. Up to 150,000 SEK per year may be used for research-related expenses such as equipment, consumables, and publication costs. An additional 50,000 SEK per year can be requested for accompanying family members. Recipients must be employed by a Swedish university or higher education institution during the grant period and spend at least two-thirds of the grant period at the foreign host institution. The program emphasizes scientific quality, independence, internationalization, and the development of research networks.
