About This Opportunity

The Swedish Research Council (Vetenskapsrådet) offers an International Postdoc grant within Medicine and Health for autumn application. The purpose is to provide recently graduated researchers with doctoral degrees from Swedish universities the opportunity to expand their network and competence by working abroad under secure employment conditions. The grant should also reward the quality and renewal of Swedish research. The postdoc is designed for researchers who completed their PhD within the last 2 years (or who will complete their degree before the funding period begins by December 31, 2024). Successful applicants will be employed by a Swedish institution while conducting research abroad for 18-36 months starting January 2025. The funding provides 1,300,000 SEK per year for salary, housing, cost-of-living allowances, and research expenses, with an additional 50,000 SEK available for accompanying family members. Recipients must spend at least two-thirds of the grant period at a foreign host institution. The grant emphasizes developing early-career researchers' international networks, scientific independence, and research competence, while requiring a formal invitation from both the Swedish administering organization and the foreign host institution. Applications must demonstrate high scientific quality and include a clear research plan, with evaluation focusing on project quality, innovation, feasibility, and the suitability of both Swedish and international research environments.
