About this opportunity
This annual award is granted to a student entering fourth year of the Nursing program at the University of Prince Edward Island, who is not already receiving another donor-funded award and, in keeping with the IODE's mission, has demonstrated community service to improve the quality of life for those in need. The IODE (Imperial Order Daughters of the Empire) is a Canadian women's charitable organization whose mission is to improve the quality of life for children, youth and those in need, through educational, social service and citizenship programs. This award was established by the Royal Edward Chapter IODE in Charlottetown, PEI's oldest functioning chapter in Canada, which began in 1901. In 2018, the Royal Edward Chapter IODE generously decided to provide a major gift to endow this award through an estate gift received from one of its members, Margaret A. Kennedy (1925-2018), who was a member since 1975 and actively promoted the mission of the IODE throughout her life.
