About this opportunity
The Irene Frye Scholarship for Gerontology Social Work is awarded to graduate social work students within the Helen Bader School of Social Welfare at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee who are pursuing a concentration in gerontology. This scholarship recognizes students committed to the field of aging and gerontology social work.
Preference is granted to students who demonstrate one or more of the following criteria: financial need, experience overcoming adversity or barriers to achieving higher education, experience interacting with other cultures and/or ESL populations, and understanding of the value of diversity in social work professionals.
Applicants must submit an essay addressing their experience in and commitment to the field of aging, including relevant coursework, projects, internships, and professional or volunteer work experience. The essay should also describe planned gerontology-focused courses, reasons for incorporating gerontology into their social work education, and intended use of gained knowledge and skills.
