About this opportunity
The Irving H. Shames Endowment Memorial Scholarship Fund was established in 2011 by Lisa R. Shames and Bruce Shames in honor of their father, SUNY Distinguished Teaching Professor Irving H. Shames. This scholarship recognizes students who demonstrate excellence in the study of statics, which was taught by the late Professor Shames. The award is specifically designed to support students who have excelled in this fundamental engineering course at the University at Buffalo's School of Engineering & Applied Sciences. Recipients must demonstrate financial need, with domestic students required to complete the FAFSA and international students required to submit a financial need statement in the general application. Importantly, students must be nominated by faculty teaching EAS 207 (the statics course) to be eligible for this award, ensuring that the scholarship recognizes students who truly embody Professor Shames' legacy of excellence in engineering education.
