About this opportunity
The Isabel Mary Tangie MySydney Scholarship provides up to $8,500 per year to support undergraduate engineering students from low socio-economic areas at the University of Sydney. The scholarship is designed to address educational disadvantage experienced by people living in areas affected by socio-economic disadvantage, by facilitating and supporting their participation in University of Sydney engineering courses.
All first year MySydney Scholarship recipients enrolled in an engineering degree are automatically eligible for this scholarship with no additional application required. Recipients are selected based on having the highest Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) among those who meet the eligibility criteria.
The scholarship provides financial support for the published full-time duration of the recipient's engineering undergraduate degree, up to a maximum of 5 years full-time or part-time equivalent. In addition to the annual stipend, recipients receive support through the transition from school to university, annual University of Sydney Union Rewards Membership, access to the Vice Chancellor's Global Mobility Award (valued up to $5,000 for eligible exchange programs), and eligibility to apply for additional accommodation scholarships.
To be eligible, students must be domestic students enrolled in an engineering undergraduate degree, have applied through the Universities Admissions Centre (UAC), and have resided in an area listed in the bottom 25 percent of the Australian Bureau of Statistics SEIFA Index of Education and Occupation when they applied for admission.
