About this opportunity
The Ivan and Blanche Darrach Bursary is awarded to students intending to register during the following academic year for full-time studies at UPEI at the second-, third-, or fourth-year level. In granting bursaries, priority will be assigned in descending order to the following criteria: good Christian character, financial need, passing (or higher) grades. Applicants must submit two letters of reference plus an essay (maximum 500 words) on the topic, 'How the UPEI motto reflects my lifestyle.' The bursary was established in 1995 through the generosity of Mr. and Mrs. Darrach, who were both students at Prince of Wales College. Ivan worked as a milk deliverer for his family's dairy business and later as an attendant with the PEI Department of Health. Blanche was a federal civil servant. Both were Elders in their respective United Church congregations. They established this fund as an expression of their Christian faith and their desire to help others.
