Ivanie Down Joslin Classics Scholarship

The Ivanie Down Joslin Classics Scholarship was established to encourage students to continue their studies in Classics at Te Herenga Waka—Victoria University of Wellington. Classics is vital to a broad based humanities education, examining the legacies of ancient Greece and Rome, the ideas expressed through language and literature and how they have influenced the way we live today. The scholarship is open to current full-time students majoring in Classical Studies, Latin, or Greek who are intending to enrol in their third undergraduate year or Honours year. Applicants are chosen on the basis of academic merit and their passion for the subject, with financial hardship considered as a secondary consideration. The award is valued at up to $5,000 towards fees, though in certain circumstances it can be paid as a stipend directly to the student.
