About this opportunity
The Interdisciplinary Centre for European Enlightenment Studies (IZEA) at Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg offers fellowships to promote research into the diversity of the Enlightenment from regional, national and global perspectives covering the period from the 18th to the 21st century. The program supports research into the complexity and contradictory nature of processes that have led to ever new interpretations of the concept of Enlightenment in Europe and worldwide. Fellows work at the IZEA and participate in the research programme of the IZEA and the DFG Research Training Group 'Politics of Enlightenment'. Located at one of the most important universities of the Enlightenment period and on the grounds of the Francke Foundations, fellows gain access to numerous resources important for Enlightenment research, including historical holdings of libraries, university collections from the 18th century, and opportunities for academic exchange. The program aims to promote research contributions of both academic and socio-political relevance, particularly in view of contemporary debates about the Enlightenment.
