About This Opportunity

The Jack Ward Scholarship is designed to support associate and bachelor's degree students in their second year or higher who can demonstrate financial hardship and other circumstances which impact their study. This scholarship is made possible by a generous donation from the Board of the Melbourne Cooperative Bookshop Limited, which was established at RMIT in 1960 as a student-led initiative. The scholarship was established by RMIT in 2015 in recognition of Mr Jack Ward, RMIT Chief Librarian from 1956 to 1980, who was also a Director of the Melbourne Cooperative Bookshop. The scholarship provides financial support to help students overcome barriers to their education, allowing them to focus on their studies without the burden of financial stress. Applicants must demonstrate academic achievement with a minimum GPA of 3.0, as well as experiencing circumstances such as disability, personal difficulties, coming from rural/regional areas, or being from under-represented backgrounds including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, refugees, or students from non-English speaking backgrounds.
