About this opportunity
Established by industrialist N.S. Jagannathan, the scholarships were first awarded for the 1996-97 academic year. The Jagannathan Scholarship program is administered by the North Carolina State Education Assistance Authority. The scholarship is awarded to undergraduate students enrolled at one of the sixteen constituent institutions of the University of North Carolina, with the recipient university rotating each award year. Currently, the scholarship is being awarded to students at Appalachian State University. Recipients must be North Carolina residents for tuition purposes, demonstrate financial need as determined by FAFSA, and have demonstrated academic achievement as indicated by class rank, cumulative GPA, and SAT scores, as well as leadership qualities. The maximum award is variable, nonrenewable, and cannot exceed demonstrated financial need. Recipients are selected by their universities and must be nominated by the financial aid office of the school they plan to attend.
