About This Opportunity
The James A. Ready Family Scholarship is awarded to a returning student who combines outstanding community volunteerism and high academic achievement. Preference is given to students studying in the Music program. This scholarship was established by Kathleen (Ready) McIver in honour of the Ready Family of Kensington, PEI. The Ready family has a distinguished legacy at St. Dunstan's University (predecessor to UPEI). James A. Ready graduated with distinction in 1897 and served as class valedictorian, later becoming an educator and journalist. The scholarship commemorates the entire Ready family's commitment to education, music, community service, and volunteerism. Family members contributed significantly to education, nursing, and service during peacetime and war, embodying values of academic excellence and community engagement that this scholarship seeks to recognize in today's students.
