James A. Saunders Scholarship

The James A. Saunders Scholarship supports minority students majoring in Journalism who are planning a career in the field. Recipients must be full-time students in good academic standing who have completed 30 to 89 semester hours of credit. The scholarship requires applicants to demonstrate commitment to journalism through campus media work or other media experience and submit a 250-word essay defining their career objectives. Recipients must intend to complete their journalism major at Eastern Illinois University. The award is announced in the Spring semester and awarded in the Fall semester, with the recipient selected by the journalism faculty as a whole.
