About this opportunity
The James G. Rosenbaum '84 Broad Horizons Scholarship supports up to four students from the Lubar College of Business to participate in a week-long colloquium at the Milton and Rose Friedman Center at Capitaf in Fairlee, Vermont. The program focuses on learning about and discussing the ideas of economist Milton Friedman, including competitive markets, free enterprise, and political and economic freedom.
This scholarship provides an all-expense paid study trip covering travel, accommodations, and course fees for the week of May 24-29, 2026. Students will cover only their own incidental expenses. The program includes daily sessions on Friedman's Free To Choose, as well as cultural and educational excursions to locations such as Dartmouth College, the Calvin Coolidge Foundation, and a local maple farm.
Preference is given to students with a declared major in Finance, Economics, Philosophy, or Political Science. Professor Michael Farrell from the Finance department will accompany students on this educational experience. Recipients will use the funds specifically for conference participation rather than receiving a traditional scholarship disbursement.
