About this opportunity
Established in 2022, the James G. Stofer Fund for Community College and Public High School Teachers provides grants to support the participation of community college and public high school teachers in American Historical Association activities and programs. The fund is named in honor of James G. Stofer, a World War II Navy veteran who credited his high school teachers for his ability to write and think historically. After the war, he attended community college and finished his education at the Wharton School. These travel grants support community college and public high school faculty members who are AHA members to attend the AHA Annual Meeting. Successful applicants receive travel subsidies of up to $400 each to help cover costs associated with attending the annual meeting. Recipients are selected by lottery from eligible applicants who submit an application including contact information, a statement describing how they would benefit from attending the annual meeting, and a CV. After the meeting, recipients must write a 250-word reflection on a session they attended.
