James Jeffrey Thomson Scholarship

University of St Andrews Original Source

About This Opportunity

This scholarship was established by a generous gift from Miss Doreen Thomson in 1978 in memory of her father James Jeffrey Thomson, in order to support students from Scotland and the rest of the UK in their studies at St Andrews. The scholarship forms part of the Wardlaw Scholarship scheme, established in 2004 to provide financial assistance to academically gifted students who would otherwise struggle with the cost of studying at the University of St Andrews. The award provides £4,400 per year paid as maintenance, which can be used towards University accommodation fees. Maintenance is paid in ten monthly installments directly to the student's bank account from September to May, with a double payment in February. This award is paid annually for the duration of the student's undergraduate programme. Selection is based on financial need and donor-specific criteria, and students are encouraged to apply early through the St Andrews Access Award application form.
