About this opportunity
The James Murphy Scholarship provides financial support to undergraduate students undertaking studies in agriculture, including sustainable agriculture and food security. The scholarship was established in 2019 by a gift from the James Murphy Bursaries Trust, which was founded by William James Murphy in 1922. Valued at $8,500 per annum, the scholarship is tenable for three years and is designed to support recent school leavers who have an unconditional offer of admission to study Bachelor of Agricultural Science or Bachelor of Agricultural Science Honours in the Faculty of Science at the University of Sydney. Applicants must be Australian Citizens, Australian Permanent Residents, or New Zealand Citizens who can demonstrate financial need and who identify, or have parents who identify, as Catholic. The scholarship is awarded based on academic merit, demonstration of financial need, a personal statement outlining the impact of the scholarship on their ability to study, and a letter from the applicant's parish priest confirming Catholic identification. Recipients must maintain a minimum Semester Average Mark (SAM) of 60 each semester to continue receiving the scholarship.
