Jane Addams Sociology in Practice Award

This award recognizes one or more sociology majors who have proven their ability to apply sociological ideas and insights to pressing sociological problems. The award asks applicants to craft an essay reflecting on how sociological thinking has enhanced their understanding of a social issue or problem that they were involved in. Applicants should consider what they learned from experiences where they applied sociological insights to a summer job, internship, or project. The reflection should be 1-2 pages in length and demonstrate the application of sociological theory to real-world problems.
