About this opportunity
The Journal of the Gilded Age and Progressive Era Best Article Prize is awarded in even numbered years to the author of the best article published in The Journal of the Gilded Age and Progressive Era during the two years preceding the year of the award. This prize recognizes excellence in scholarly research and writing focused on the Gilded Age and Progressive Era in American history. Winners of this prize are honored at the annual SHGAPE luncheon and receive a certificate and an honorarium. The award has been presented since 2008 and has recognized outstanding scholarship on diverse topics ranging from infanticide law, advertising and food regulation, to meteorological infrastructure and Chinese exclusion.
