Jim and Bess Townsend Hanks Scholarship

The Jim and Bess Townsend Hanks Scholarship is awarded to undergraduate students in the Department of Accountancy and Finance at Eastern Illinois University who are considering a career in insurance. This scholarship has a unique requirement that recipients must participate in a pre-arranged, conducted tour and briefing at either State Farm's Corporate Headquarters in Bloomington, Illinois, or one of their 26 regional offices, preferably the Indiana Regional Office in West Lafayette, Indiana, before accepting the scholarship. The scholarship is awarded annually in the spring and disbursed in the fall. Students may reapply each year for the scholarship, though renewal is not automatic. The award amount varies.
