Jim Barros Music Scholarship

The Jim Barros Music Scholarship supports students at Tarrant County College who are pursuing an Associate of Arts Degree in Music with the intention to transfer to a four-year music major degree program. This merit-based scholarship is specifically for students attending the TCC Northeast Campus who demonstrate strong academic performance in music coursework. Recipients must maintain enrollment in core music courses including private lessons, recital lab, and at least one music ensemble. The scholarship emphasizes academic excellence with a minimum overall GPA of 2.75 and a 3.0 GPA in music courses, while requiring completion of foundational music theory and ear training courses. Recipients may receive renewal for the spring semester if they maintain the required GPA standards and complete at least 9 credit hours in the fall semester. Financial need is not a determining factor for this merit-based award.
