Jim Brown Athletic/Scholastic Scholarship

The Jim Brown Athletic/Scholastic Scholarship is designed to support graduating seniors from Illinois Valley High School (IVHS) who have demonstrated commitment to athletics throughout their high school career. This scholarship recognizes student-athletes who have maintained strong academic performance while participating in sports for at least 9 out of 12 seasons during high school. The program provides two awards of $500 each to help recipients continue their education at accredited post-secondary institutions. Eligible students must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 and plan to attend an accredited college, university, or technical school. The scholarship acknowledges the dedication required to balance athletic participation with academic achievement. A hardship clause is available for participation requirements, recognizing that some students may have faced challenges that affected their ability to participate in all seasons. Recipients receive their scholarship funds upon providing proof of school registration and must submit a thank you letter along with proof of college or post-secondary enrollment by October 31 of their graduation year. This scholarship aims to support student-athletes as they transition from high school to higher education, helping to offset the costs of their continued academic pursuits.
