About this opportunity
The Jock Abra Scholarship in Psychology and the Arts is offered annually to a continuing undergraduate student entering the final year of the Honours program in the Faculty of Arts, majoring in Psychology at the University of Calgary. The scholarship awards $1,500 to one student who demonstrates academic merit and shows involvement and interest in an area of fine arts and/or the performing arts. Students must be registered full-time but need not be carrying a full course load. To apply, students must submit a letter to the Department of Psychology by May 1 summarizing their fine arts, performing arts or humanities involvement, including specific documentation that supports and confirms the extent of their involvement, such as letters from instructors or a portfolio of work produced. The scholarship was established by Dr. Jock Abra and reflects the recognition that psychology students who engage with the arts bring valuable interdisciplinary perspectives to their academic work.
