About this opportunity
The Joey Irwin Scholarship was created by the Martinez Family to honor the life of Joey Irwin, a Frederick High School alumnus and Master plumber who passed away in 2017. This scholarship provides financial support to graduating seniors from Frederick High School who plan to pursue education in a trade or vocational occupation. Joey was known for his incredible skill as a plumber, his love for the outdoors, and his generous spirit in helping others.
The scholarship awards up to $10,000 annually to support students pursuing trade or vocational education. Award amounts are split between semesters and can be used for tuition, fees, required books and supplies, room and board, and other direct educational expenses at trade or vocational schools. Typically, two winners are selected each year, though the number of scholarships and maximum amounts may vary depending on available funding.
Applicants must be seniors at Frederick High School with a minimum GPA of 2.50. The application process includes submitting a high school transcript with fall grades, responding to short answer questions, and uploading a 2-3 minute video. This scholarship reflects Joey Irwin's legacy of dedication to skilled trades and his commitment to helping others in his community.
