About this opportunity
The John and Eileen Jorgens Scholarship is awarded annually to Alberta residents with superior academic achievement entering the first year of a BSc. in Nutrition and Food Science, BSc. in Environmental and Conservation Sciences, or BSc. in Agriculture (Agricultural and Resource Economics major). Recipients are selected on the basis of Grade 11 and/or Grade 12 final marks and leadership involvement in community and extracurricular activities. Preference is given to applicants from an Alberta farming or ranching family where the primary income of the family is derived from the farm/ranch, although students from urban centres are also encouraged to apply. This scholarship is renewable for a second year provided the recipient maintains superior academic standing with a GPA of 3.5 or higher on a minimum of 24 credits over the most recent September to April period. The award is made through the Faculty of Agricultural, Life & Environmental Sciences at the University of Alberta and is funded by an endowment from Mr. and Mrs. John and Eileen Jorgens.
