About This Opportunity

The John Anderson Research Studentship Scheme (JARSS) provides doctoral studentships annually for excellent students and excellent research projects at the University of Strathclyde. There are two main sources of funding: Central University funding and Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council - Doctoral Landscape Award (EPSRC - DLA) funding. The JARSS has three allocations: Research Excellence Awards (REAs) for research excellence through defined projects that support the University's strategic research ambitions, Student Excellence Awards (SEAs) for students with a minimum of a 2.1 undergraduate degree (or equivalent), and ISP Excellence Awards (ISPEA) for projects with strategic alignment and collaboration with one or more of the University's designated International Strategic Partners. The scheme covers home fees and provides a stipend at UKRI rate. University funded JARSS awards are for 3 years, while EPSRC funded JARSS awards are for 3.5 years. Applications are made by academic supervisors rather than students directly.
