About this opportunity

The John Bassett Hunter Research Scholarship was established in 2019 through a bequest from Mr Hunter who died in December 2018. The purpose of the scholarship is to encourage postgraduate research in any discipline of the biological sciences. The scholarship will be awarded on the basis of academic merit. Candidates must be conducting research in any of the biological sciences which has the potential to benefit the health of New Zealand's people and environment. The scholarship provides $35,000 per annum, with $10,000 towards tuition fees and $25,000 paid as a monthly stipend. Recipients must be enrolled full-time in a PhD in the School of Biological Sciences at Victoria University of Wellington and must be New Zealand citizens or permanent residents. The scholarship has a tenure of 3 years.
