John D. Schmitt Scholarship

The John D. Schmitt Scholarship is awarded to officers in the Phi Alpha Zeta chapter of Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity at Eastern Illinois University who have demonstrated leadership within the chapter. This scholarship is designed to recognize and support students who have taken on leadership responsibilities within their fraternity. To be eligible, recipients must be full-time students who have completed a minimum of 24 semester hours at EIU. The scholarship considers financial need as part of the selection criteria. Recipients must be officers of the Phi Alpha Zeta chapter of Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity who have exhibited strong leadership within the chapter. In the event that the Phi Alpha Zeta of Lambda Chi Alpha chapter no longer exists, the award will be made to an executive officer of the Interfraternity Council. The award is announced in the Spring semester and paid in the Fall semester. The scholarship amount varies from year to year based on available funds.
