John David Reed News-Editorial Journalism Scholarship

The John David Reed News-Editorial Journalism Scholarship supports full-time freshman or transfer students at Eastern Illinois University who are majoring in Journalism and have earned 12 to 18 credit hours at Eastern. Recipients must demonstrate intent to pursue a career in news-editorial journalism through significant participation at the Daily Eastern News. The scholarship requires recipients to submit a 500-word essay describing how their participation in student or other news media at Eastern Illinois University will enhance their preparation for a career in news-editorial journalism. Recipients must demonstrate potential for academic achievement through their first semester grades at Eastern Illinois University, maintain good academic standing, and financial need may be considered as a deciding factor after other criteria are met. This award is announced in the Spring semester and pays for the following Fall semester.
