About This Opportunity

The John Drake Memorial Scholarship was launched in 2009 to honor John Drake, who had an exceptional rugby and business career along with distinguished service in media related to rugby. The scholarship is designed to support a young promising individual who displays the potential to develop the attitude and success of John Drake. The core objective is to support recipients' tuition at the University of Auckland while they play rugby at the Auckland University Rugby Football Club, following in John's footsteps. The combination of academic excellence and rugby participation aims to contribute to the rounding of the individual, mirroring John's success in multiple facets of life. The scholarship is awarded on an annual basis and is patroned by former All Black Coach and two-time Rugby World Cup winner Sir Graham Henry.
