John Drake Memorial Scholarship

The John Drake Memorial Scholarship was launched in 2009 by then All Black Coach Sir Graham Henry to honor John Drake, who had an exceptional rugby and business career along with distinguished service in media related to rugby. The core objective of the Scholarship is to support a young promising individual who displays the potential to develop the attitude and success of John Drake. The Scholarship supports the recipient's tuition at the University of Auckland while the individual plays rugby at the Auckland University Rugby Football Club. The combination of these powerful influences aims to contribute to the rounding of the individual, to mirror John's success in multiple facets of life. The scholarship has been awarded annually since 2010 to promising young rugby players from secondary schools across New Zealand.
