About This Opportunity

The John Monash Scholarship is a prestigious Australian postgraduate award that allows recipients to study in any field, at any international university, anywhere in the world. Inspired by General Sir John Monash, the program awards between 14-20 scholarships annually, empowering recipients to gain world-class expertise from their chosen institutions and then deliver positive impact for Australia. No matter the passion — science, technology, the arts, or social impact — this scholarship is open to Australians of all ages and study areas and supports master's or PhD studies overseas for those who demonstrate excellence in their field, leadership aptitude and are motivated to contribute to a better future for Australia. Successful applicants receive $100,000 AUD for each year of study up to a maximum of $300,000 AUD. The scholarship can be used towards tuition fees, accommodation and other living expenses. The total funding depends on program length: one-year master's receives $100,000 AUD, two-year master's receives $200,000 AUD, and three-year PhD receives $300,000 AUD. Recipients also receive an additional one-off travel allowance for flights from Australia to their country of study. Scholars receive personalised career support and lifelong leadership development through the John Monash Foundation Leadership Academy. The scholarship selection process includes multiple rounds of interviews with panels made up of senior professional and academic leaders from across Australia.
