John W Scott Honor Award

The John W Scott Honor Award is an annual award established for medical students completing the final year of the MD program at the University of Alberta. This prestigious honor recognizes exceptional students who demonstrate outstanding qualities across three key dimensions: scholarship, leadership, and character throughout their four years of medical education. The award is endowed by the Medical Alumni Association of the University of Alberta and represents a recognition of students who show promise of achieving distinguished positions in the medical profession. Recipients are selected by a committee comprising faculty members, students, and alumni. The award acknowledges comprehensive excellence over the entire degree program rather than a single achievement. In any given year, the award may be presented to multiple deserving candidates or may be withheld if no candidates meet the high standards expected. Students are automatically considered based on their completed General Application.
