About this opportunity
The Jolanda Allen Indonesian Studies Scholarship provides financial support to undergraduate students studying Indonesian Studies at the University of Sydney. Established in 2023 and donated by Dr Jolanda Allen, this scholarship aims to support students pursuing Indonesian language and culture studies within the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences.
The scholarship is available to first or second year undergraduate students who have demonstrated strong academic performance, either through their university marks (WAM of 75 in Indonesian Studies units and 70 overall), HSC results (75% or above in Indonesian Continuers or Extension), or ATAR scores (minimum 90%). Recipients must be enrolled in at least one Indonesian unit of study each semester during the scholarship tenure, excluding in-country study units.
Selection is based on academic merit and a personal statement demonstrating commitment to Indonesian Studies. Preference is given to students who demonstrate financial hardship, leadership or creative skills, or are enrolled in the Indonesian Studies major. The scholarship provides consistent financial support throughout the recipient's studies to help them focus on their academic development in Indonesian language and cultural studies.
