The Joseph A. Ghiz Memorial Scholarship is awarded to a UPEI graduating student from Prince Edward Island with high academic standing who has demonstrated aptitude for commitment to the community and has been accepted into an accredited law school the following year. The scholarship was created to honor Joseph A. Ghiz, who served as Premier of Prince Edward Island and later as a Supreme Court Justice. This award was established by the PEI Supreme Court, the Law Foundation of PEI, the Law Society of PEI, the PEI Branch of the Canadian Bar Association, the law firm of Stewart McKelvey Stirling Scales, and the Ghiz family. Joseph A. Ghiz was known for his significant contributions to law, education, and community service throughout his career.
