About This Opportunity

The Joseph Paul Brumlik Scholarship for Excellence in Advocacy is awarded annually to a student with superior academic achievement (3.5 grade point average or higher) enrolled in a minimum 24 credits over the most recent September to April period in the third year in the Faculty of Law at the University of Alberta. Recipients will be selected on the basis of academic standing and demonstrated excellence in advocacy skills. The scholarship was endowed in perpetuity by LM Alison Lees in recognition of Joseph Brumlik's high level of excellence as a lawyer, particularly in advocacy, combined with his exceptional integrity and dedication, and in appreciation of his outstanding qualities as a principal, a mentor, and a law partner. If no suitable candidate can be found, no scholarship will be given. The method of selection of the recipient and the criteria for the scholarship shall be determined annually by the Prizes and Awards Committee of the Faculty of Law in consultation with Joseph Brumlik.
