Joy Peters and Reena Walia Diversity Scholarship

The Joy Peters and Reena Walia Diversity Scholarship is offered annually by the ANU College of Systems and Society to support first-year women seeking to study Engineering or Computer Science at ANU who are experiencing financial or other disadvantages. The objective of the scholarship is to support a diverse College and University student community, representative of the populations from which those students come and which they may ultimately serve. Funding for this Award has been provided by Joy Peters and Reena Walia to recognise and acknowledge their parents, whose encouragement and sacrifice made it possible for them to attend ANU. The scholarship provides $8,000 per annum for one year to commencing domestic students who identify as women, have completed Year 12 or equivalent, are enrolling in an undergraduate Engineering and/or Computing single or flexible double degree, and have experienced financial or other disadvantages making them eligible for adjustment factors under the National Access Scheme. Three scholarships are available each year, with payments made in equal instalments after census date each semester. Recipients are responsible for payment of tuition fees and all other costs of study including books, materials, and accommodation. All applicants applying for admission through the ANU Admission Scholarship and Accommodation Application System will be automatically considered for the Award based on meeting the eligibility criteria.
